What is Hypnotherapy?
It may be surprising to many to learn that we experience trance states often during the course of our lives. Even passing into ordinary sleep involves a kind of trance state. The experience of hypnosis is similar, neither asleep nor awake and a little like daydreaming, with a pleasant feeling of deep relaxation behind it all.
Hypnosis is a different state of consciousness which you can naturally enter so that, for therapeutic purposes, beneficial corrections may be given directly to your unconscious mind.
In this way, hypnosis is an effective way of making contact with our inner (unconscious) self, which is both a reservoir of unrecognized potential and knowledge as well as being the unwitting source of many of our problems.
It is a fact that no-one can be hypnotized against their will!
What is NLP?
NLP is the art of excellence, created in the 1970’s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder at the University of California. Richard Bandler was a student of psychology and Grinder was an assistant Linguistic professor. Together they studied people who achieved great results including Virginia Satir (Family Therapist), Milton Erikson (Hypnotherapist) and Gregory Bateson (who created Cybernetics). They created a system whereby the excellence of others could be a modelled in the field of education, business and personal change.
NEURO LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING: Neuro relates to the human nervous system, the brain and the five senses, Linguistic refers to verbal and non-verbal information we communicate with, and Programming relates to the ability to structure our neurological and linguistic systems to achieve desired results.
